Mathematics is the language of the universe
The Cooperation Club, in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs for Female Students, organized the program "Mathematics is the Language of the Universe" at the Applied College, Abha branch. The program took place on Sunday, 1st of Rabi' al-Awwal, 1444 H (corresponding to date: [insert Gregorian date]), from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the conference room.
Mathematics is a science that the world has relied on for thousands of years, and despite continuous complaints about it throughout this period, humanity has not been able to do without it until now. Mathematics is also the unique branch of knowledge that has served and contributed to the advancement of all other sciences, without any of them contributing to its own development. Because mathematics is related to all disciplines, this program was established.
The program commenced with the following topics:
1. The history of mathematics and its discoverers.
2. The importance of mathematics in various aspects of life, such as commerce, trade, medical advancements, distance and length calculations, and other areas of life.
3. The connection between mathematics, literature, economics, daily life, and its relation to science and arts.
4. Then, there was an introduction to the most important mathematicians, their achievements, and discoveries:
- Omar Khayyam
- Ibn Sina (Avicenna)
- Pythagoras
- Abu al-Raihan al-Biruni
- Archimedes
Additionally, some mathematical principles were explained and calculated using simplified methods to benefit the students, such as the concept of ratios and how to find them.
Mathematics is a fundamental aspect of our lives; it helps us measure, compare, and understand the world around us.
