University Rector Lauds the Kingdom's FY 2020 Budget and its Focus on Education

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, recently commented on the national budget for fiscal year 2020. The Rector is pleased in that there is every indication that the Kingdom is on track to meet the financial targets set forth in Vision 2030. The Rector said: "His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has issued an annual budget that serves both the immediate needs of Saudi society and provides for the necessary advances and investment required to stay on the path to further development as per Vision 2030. Further empowering the private sector will raise the standard of living for the average citizen, and provide for the safety and security of our society for many generations to come." Rector Al-Solamy noted that 19% of the annual budget for next year is devoted to education. This reflects the Kingdom's commitment to developing its vast human resources for the nation's collective benefit. He also commended His Majesty's decision to extend the cost-of-living allowance for an additional year until the end of FY 2020. Rector Al-Solamy concluded by asking Allah to protect and bless His Majesty the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and our wise Leadership.

Department of Media and Communication Students Visit Media Houses in the Region

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center Department of Media and Communication freshmen students recently completed a "hands-on" training program that included the participation of the Saudi Press Agency, Abha TV Station, the Radio Station, and Al-Watan Newspaper. The visits, supervised by Teaching Assistant Mr. Mohammad Shami, come as part of the Department of Media and Communication's standing initiative to link the theoretical and practical aspects of the field, as well as introducing media career paths and professions. Of noteworthy mention, practical training has always been a core component in the education of media students since the establishment of the department.

University Hosts International Day of Persons with Disabilities Day Activity

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center King Khalid University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Special Needs Center, recognised "International Day of Persons with Disabilities Day" by an event called "A Future to be Achieved". Vice Rector, Prof. Khlood Abu Melha, hosted the ceremonies. She explained that the purpose was to raise awareness of the needs and challenges of those with disabilities. Experts estimate that upwards of a billion people worldwide have a disability, and 1.5 million Saudis (7% of the population have a debilitating health issue). Vice Rector Abu Melha noted that making sure students with disabilities fully participate in academic and social life at the university is a high priority. She thanked His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy for his continued support of the effort. She also thanked the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Al-Atheed, Dr. Fatimah Shaban, Vice Dean of Student Affairs, Supervisor of the Special Needs Center, Dr. Amer Ali Jafar, and Deputy Supervisor of the Special Needs Center, Sareen Talal Bakri, for all their efforts in service of people with special needs. Dr. Al Bakri said that it is an honour and pleasure to work for the benefit of the disabled on a daily basis. She noted that King Khalid University is tailoring programs to students with special needs in accord with Vision 2030. Many students and faculty members from all colleges participated in the event.

Future Medical City Collaboration Meeting

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, welcomed His Excellency, Taibah University Rector Prof. Abdulaziz Alsarani, and the Supervising Committee of Medical City programs at Al Madinah Al Munawarah to his office at the main campus. The meeting was held to discuss opportunities for collaboration and exchange between the two visiting parties and King Khalid University. In attendance were the university vice rectors, medical college senior leadership, and the assistant director of General Health Affairs in the Asir region.

The 6th University Olympics

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center King Khalid University 6th Olympics Competition, was inaugurated on Sunday the  6 th of Rabie Al Awal,  which is organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs represented by the Cultural and Social Activities agency and the  Deanship Female Student Affairs  and is to  continue to the 10th of Rabie Al Awal.  The 6th edition of the Cultural Olympiad aims to develop and stimulate the energies, abilities and skills of  students in various fields. The Olympics is to include 15  competitions : The memorization of the Holy Quran, Recitation of Quran , Sunnah, the Biography of the Prophet peace be upon him, the Art of Diction, Classic Poetry , Short Story, Arabic calligraphy  , painting, General Knowledge  competitions, and community service On his part the Dean of the Deanship of  Student Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Mansour Al-Aidid stressed on the importance of  motivating and encouraging students to participate in the competitions. He thanked  His Excellency Prof.Faleh bin Raja Allah Al-Solami, for supporting the Olympics and encouraging its repetition, he also extended his gratitude to the University Vice Rector of Academic Affairs for his support and to all those who contribute to the success of the event. Its worth mentioning that the awarding ceremony is sponsored by his Excellency King Khalid University and is to be held next Thursday the 10th of Rabie Al Awal 1441Ah.

University Council Approves the Appointment of 28 Lectures

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center King Khalid University Council approved the appointment of 28 Teacher Assistants to the rank of lecture after meeting the university requirements.  The University Vice Rector of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Prof. Saad bin Abdulrhamn Al Amiri, congratulated the candidates and stressed that the University under the supervision of the University Rector Prof. Falleh bin Rajallah Al Solami is keen to support and motivate its academic members through providing  suitable conditions and opportunities that serve the development of quality of the university members.  The University Council, calls  up all   remaining  teaching assistant,  and those who hold a master's degree  who wish to be  appointed   to the rank of "lecturer" to complete the appointment requirements in accordance to the conditions approved by the University Council.

STEM JAM: Electronic Game Development Event

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center The King Khalid University Information Technology Administration has planned the launch of the STEM JAM activity in collaboration with the Asir Scientific Center. STEM Jam is designed for those interested in electronic game development and the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) scientific methodologies used. STEM JAM will begin on November 7, 2019, and end on November 9, 2019, with a 20-hour competition project.   The activity will have a focus that includes but is not limited to: Simplifying science according to STEM methodology, which is concerned with simplifying the solution of mathematical problems and understanding scientific laws; Developing innovation and creative thinking by using VR or AR; Problem-solving and employing 21-century skills, such as engineering design in mathematics, explaining programming languages and linking arts to science; Raising awareness of STEM methodology and employing electronic games in spreading STEM culture. The University Archeological Digging at the Historical Jerash Site

Source:King Khalid University - Media Center King Khalid University archeology digging team took part in the Archeological digging at the Historical  Jerash which has recently been finalized. The participation of King Khalid University archeology team, is part of the memorandum of  collaboration terms signed between the University and National Authority for Tourism and an attempt to achieve the university’s goal in supporting national tourism and the protection of historical sites.    The University Vice Rector for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Prof. Saad Abdulrahman Al Amiri  had perviously visited the site and observed the work which was under the supervision of the team’s leader Abdulaziz AlYahya.  The University team Supervisor  assistant professor,Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Marzouq, stressed that the  university was  keen to take part  in the field work  with the Tourism Authority team to explore  the methods of digging,archaeological recording, and   finding  historical and archaeological sites. He pointed that   this participation is the fifth on the university part,  where the team actively participated in pervious diggings. It is noteworthy that the Jerash archaeological site includes historical relics dating back to the  Islamic periods, and it is the teams mission to discover monuments that are to be transferred to the  Asir Archaeological Museum, to attract tourists to Asir region in the near future.

University Rector Inaugurates Asir Welcome Campaign

Source:King Khalid University - Media Center King Khalid University Rector, His Excellency Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, inaugurated the Asir Guests Welcome Initiative in the presence of General Director of Asir Police Department, General Major Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al-Maghlouth, King Khalid University Vice Rector, Prof. Muhammad Al-Hasoon, and Dean of Community Service and Continuing Education, Dr. Omar Ageel. The initiative, which will be conducted by the Badir Volunteer Team and the Voluntary Work Unit at the Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education, is an integral part of the Goodwill Initiative launched by Governor of Asir, His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud. On his part, Dean Algeel explained that the Asir Guests Welcome Initiative is represented in the hospitality of the region's residents to visitors and guests in public parks and tourist locations in Asir. The initiative will begin at the start Dhū Al-Ḥijjah and will mainly organize welcome tours within the city of Abha and the surrounding areas of the Asir region.

King Khalid University Celebrates Eid al Fitr

King Khalid University - Media Center   King Khalid University Rector, His Excellency Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, led King Khalid University's Annual Eid Celebration, which was organized by the iT Administration to celebrate Eid al Fitr for the year 1440 AH.   At the beginning of the ceremony, His Excellency congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud - may Allah protect them - on Eid al Fitr and the success of the Makkah Summit. He also praised the efforts of the armed forces who have devoted their lives to protect our country. He followed by congratulating the university community on Eid Al Fitr, asking Allah to bless and protect our country. Of noteworthy mention, His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy, along with all in attendance, dedicated a mural to the armed forces as a token of appreciation. Elsewhere in the university community, the Tehama Campus also celebrated Eid al Fitr in the presence of Tehama Campus General Supervisor, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shehri, where he congratulated all faculty members and employees on behalf of the university rector and wished them success.
