A Program on Social Media Content

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center The Department of Media and Communication at King Khalid University will organize a program as part of "Mobaderoon". The program, entitled "The Industry of Social Media Content", will be held on Wednesday the 17th of Dhul Qi’dah. The program will be delivered by Muhammad Hassan Huraysi, a lecturer at the Department of Media and Communication. It was noted that the program is tailored to media students, those interested in media and public relations, and the community. Media and Communication Department Head, Prof. Ali bin Shuwail Al-Qarni, explained that the program aims to introduce industry trends and influence factors. Of note, the foundations of creative writing, media content planning, analyzing social media platforms, and creating an identity will be covered in-depth. He pointed out that the program is part of a series of programs to develop media skills.

Social Media Marketing Training Course Delivered

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center King Khalid University, represented by the Department of Media and Communication, organized within the "Mobaderoon" project, a program entitled "Creating Media Content on Social Media", delivered by lecturer at the Department of Media and Communication, Muhammad Hassan Harisi. The program was opened by Department of Media and Communication Head, Prof. Ali bin Shuwail Al-Qarni, and directed by student Mudawi Al-Ahmari. The program discussed a number of issues on what is the media content, content maker characteristics, content elements and goals, the planning and implementation stages of creating content and media topics, how to analyze social media platforms, the uses of social media platforms, and how to build a media identity.

Asir Electricity & Water Rationalization Project Supported by 30 University Projects

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center   Within the Asir Electricity & Water Rationalization Project, inaugurated by Asir Gov. Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, the Department of Media and Communication at the College of Humanities has dedicated all students graduation projects for the Summer 2020 Semester to support this project through campaigns and e-projects, serving to introduce the project and achieve its goals by raising awareness and educating society. Department of Media and Communication Head, Prof. Ali Al-Qarni, explained that his team allocated graduation projects to serve an important not only in the region but also in the Kingdom. "It is essential for the educational and training process for the students. They will conduct educational campaigns through social media," he said. Prof. Alqarni added: "It is expected that these projects will reach about thirty projects under the direct supervision of a faculty member who will follow up on the progress and impact of the project. Our experienced faculty members will each be assigned 5 students and work under a guiding principle that calls for fulfilling the objectives of the Asir Electricity & Water Rationalization Project."

Media and Communication Students Lead 12 Campaigns

   Source: King Khalid University - Media Center   The Media and Communication Department at the College of Humanities led 12 awareness campaigns that served 9 locations in the region. The main purpose of the campaigns was to increase awareness in a variety of fields and specialties related to the student's graduation projects and initiatives.   Dr. Ali Zuhair Al-Qahtani explained that the campaigns included exhibitions that introduced the campaign's mission, goals, infographic brochures, pamphlets, and gifts. He stressed that the campaigns are in line with the department's training plan set by Dr. Ali bin Shuwail Al-Qarni.   Dr. Al-Qahtani drew special attention to 3 campaigns that made the greatest impact as follows.   Stop It Stop It is a campaign to raise awareness of disinformation and misinformation in 'fake news'. It aims to increase awareness of the risks it poses to society as well as methods to 'Stop It'.   Our Children Are Our Responsibility Our Children Are Our Responsibility is a campaign to raise awareness on the amount of time children are spending on smart devices. It aims to mitigate problems stemming from excessive use.   Media Education for Children Media Education for Children is a campaign to increase awareness of the dangers that exposure to mass media presents to children and adolescents. It aims to reduce the harmful effects of media by enhancing understanding and support for media education.   In addition to the campaigns mentioned above, a number of initiatives were also held as follows.   Goodwill Initiative The Goodwill Initiative led by His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Governor of Asir, aims to revive to region's historic sites and attract tourists under the 'welcome a thousand times' slogan.   Travel With Health Travel With Health is a multi-faceted initiative that raised awareness of both infectious and non-infectious health risks. The event was held at Abha International Airport and provided advice, guidance, and educational resources to thousands of citizens and expatriates.   To a Clean Environment To a Clean Environment is an initiative focused on tackling the challenge of changing behavior and bringing the community together to do good. It is important that the region looks its best at all times from a business, tourist, and leisure perspective. Considered an initiative that can create long-term sustainable change, the initiative was held at dozens of parks throughout the region.   Principles and Values Principles and Values is an initiative that aims to preserve and protect the region's park, recreation, and open space land.   Physical Activities The Physical Activities Initiative aims to help people across the region lead a more active lifestyle through dozens of active walking schemes.   Anti-Fraud and Anti-Theft The Anti-Fraud and Anti-Theft Initiative is a collaboration between the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority and King Khalid University. Its focus is mainly on raising financial awareness in society to will help stop the dangers linked to financial scams.   King Fahad Cultural Center: Saving Energy This initiative was held at the King Fahad Cultural Center. It aims to explain the importance of rationalizing energy consumption and its optimal use at every moment. Media and Communication Department Head, Dr. Ali Bin Shuwail Al-Qarni, explained that the campaigns were planned and executed under the volunteerism directives of King Khalid University Rector, His Excellency Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy. King Khalid University is committed to fostering a culture of continuous development in the educational and scientific process by providing a stimulating and supportive environment for students to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities in pursuit of excellence.

Together to Save Energy: Awareness Campaign

The campaign is a graduation project delivered by a group of female students for the 1439-40 academic year under the supervision of Department Supervisor, Nora Amer, Dr. Ali Zuheer Al-Qahtani, and Dr. Nuha Jagfar. The energy-awareness campaign aims to reduce the amount of wasted energy as well as increase societal awareness. Organizers of the campaign noted that bringing about a change in behavior is related to positive reinforcement of techniques. Some of those techniques include turning off appliances that are left on, such as: Chargers; TVs; Home Appliances; Computer Monitors; Tablets; Other Portable Devices; Photocopiers.   Of noteworthy mention, the campaign included a video that explained the initial steps to saving energy, infographic brochures, and gifts. Metabolism Disorders in Newborns

  The Media and Communication Department at King Khalid University held an awareness campaign on metabolic disorders in newborns. 'Early Diagnosis to Protect Newborns' was the slogan designed in collaboration with the private sector. The campaign's purpose focused on metabolic disorders in newborns and the critical importance of early detection to prevent disabilities. It was noted that the rare genetic disorder appears in the early stages of infancy leading to permanent disabilities. The campaign is the graduation project for Strategic Communication Media Department students Shog Mohammad Al-Qarni and Hanan Mushabab. They worked under the supervision of Department of Media and Communication Head, Nora Al-Amer. The campaign team included Dr. Mohammad Hajie, who explained that the probability of this disorder is usually found with couples who share the same genetic history. Dr. Hajie added the Ministry of Health has established a routine procedure in public and private hospitals to examine newborns and diagnose the disorder in early stages, which must take place in the first 72 hours of birth. He discussed the significance of the 'Genome Project' and the work that they do. The not-for-profit project finds cures for genetic disorders and diseases to prevent and protect the spread of genetic disabilities. The campaign introduced the causes and symptoms of this disorder, including the lack of important enzymes in the body, which are responsible for converting nutrients from protein, carbohydrates, and fats to small molecules. In turn, this leads to the accumulation of nutrients in the body causing excessive concentration in the blood. With early diagnosis, it was related, the threat of toxins and cell inactivity are drastically reduced.
