Rector Al-Solamy Launches Safe Return Initiative

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, recently launched the Safe Return Initiative for faculty members under the Office of the Vice Rector for Educational and Academic Affairs supervision. His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy congratulated faculty members and students on the new academic year, stressing the need to prioritize the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community in every decision. Rector Al-Solamy explained that we are committed to ensuring that teaching, learning, and research will continue at the highest level of excellence. Vice Rector for Educational and Academic Affairs, Prof. Saad Du'ajim, praised this initiative, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of upholding COVID-19 precautionary measures while ensuring the continuation of the educational process. Office of the Vice Rector for Educational and Academic Affairs Consultant, Dr. Fahad Otaif, said: "The Safe Return Initiative includes a procedural guide for students and faculty members that focuses on mandatory health protocols and academic procedures to ensure the safety of students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community. In addition to the procedural guide, we have developed an informative video and distributed more than 3,000 evidence-based awareness posters to all university departments." King Khalid University is committed to the health and safety of our community. We will continue to emphasize remote learning and work while allowing certain in-person activities under Ministry of Education guidelines and a limited population of students and staff. We seek to support the wellbeing of our community while advancing academic achivements. By taking steps to protect ourselves and others through important health and safety protocols on campus, we are playing an integral role in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Dr. Fahad Al-Ahmari Assigned as Advisor to University Rector

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center   His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, issued an administrative decision assigning Dr. Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Ahmari as an adviser in addition to his current position as supervisor of the Design Unit and KKUx. Dr. Al-Ahmari expressed his gratitude to His Excellency, praying to Allah for guidance in achieving expectations while serving the University and its members. Dr. Al-Ahmari used to be the Dean of E-Learning at the University. The Emirate of Asir chose him as an inspiring national role model and a prominent character in the fight against COVID-19.

COVID-19 Awareness and Training Held for Safety and Security Staff

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center The Deanship of Human Resources at King Khalid University collaborated with the College of Applied Medical Sciences at Khamis Mushait to organize an online educational meeting for staff at the General Administration of Safety and Security. The meeting — attended by 300 safety and security staff members — was entitled "Dealing with COVID-19: Infection, Examination, and Prevention". College of Applied Medical Sciences at Khamis Mushait Dean, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sabaani, delivered the online meeting alongside Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Tijani and Dr. Adam Abdel-Qader. They covered several topics, most notably: introducing COVID-19, its symptoms, known causes of transmission, and prevention measures. The Director of the Administrative Development Department at the Deanship of Human Resources, Mr. Ali Saleh Al Demaih, explained the meeting is a part of a series of training programs implemented by the Deanship.

The University continues to apply COVID-19 precautionary measures

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center  King Khalid University represented in the University Agency and its entities, continues to work on approved precautionary measures, and sterilizing the buildings and facilities in all the University’s campuses and buildings. The University Vice-President Prof. Mohammed bin Hamid Al-Buhairi, explained the Agency’s entities responsible for maintenance and security continue their efforts following the approved protocols. He confirmed, these entities worked harder to prepare for the new academic year 1442 AH. Regulations were issued to ensure the safety of students, faculty members and employees since they are coming back to the campuses, as stated in the new mechanism. The Director of the General Administration of Maintenance Eng. Amer Al-Zaila’i, explained the Administration took many measures following the decisions issued to control the spread of COVID-19; for the safety of University members. Al-Zaila’i stressed the Administration prepared a team with all precautionary measures (masks and gloves) to clean and sterilize all University facilities. Sterilization is governed with daily time schedules in order to cover all University buildings and facilities. The Director of the General Administration of Safety and Security Mr. Ali Al-Qahtani, explained the Administration is following all precautionary measures, and provide sanitizers and masks in collaboration with medical services, operation and maintenance entities at the University.

Medical City to Increase Medical Staff to Combat COVID-19

  Source: King Khalid University - Media Center  As part of the internal employment program, the Medical City at King Khalid University announced a number of jobs by contract for the COVID-19 Medical Team, namely doctors and health specialists. The Medical City urged those interested to apply for these jobs by (clicking here). The specialties, requirements and conditions for each position are available by (clicking here). The general conditions for applying to these positions stipulate that the applicant must be Saudi and not currently working with any other entity. In the case of employment, the applicant should present a clearance letter within a week of their admission. Another condition requires good conduct and behaviour. Applicants must be in good physical and mental health, attach their professional categorization card, apply to the required speciality through the Saudi Commission for Health Specialities. The applicants' certificates, other requirements and expertise letters must be uploaded as PDF files. Lastly, applicants will have to pass the interview and test and submit the application within five days of the announcement. The Medical City is pleased to announce the start of the hiring period on the 29th of Dhul Qi’dah 1441 AH/ the 20th of July 2020, noting that it will end on the 3rd of Dhu al-Hijjah 1441 AH/ 24th of July 2020.

College of Engineering Pulls Together to Produce 11,000 Pieces of Medical Equipment During Pandemic

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center  In earlier news stories, we reported — under the patronage of His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy — that the College of Engineering launched an initiative for manufacturing medical equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE), using 3D printing in the Digital Fabrication Lab, to help meet the critical shortage for medical professionals treating COVID-19 patients. We noted that students from the College of Engineering will participate under the supervision of highly experienced faculty members on the initiative team. We are pleased to announce that this initiative, which is part of "Mobaderoon", has led to the production of more than 11,000 pieces of medical equipment and PPE — with 4,000 more under production — to the Department of Health Affairs in Asir, the Asir Municipality, College of Dentistry Clinics, the General Administration for University Safety and Security, the university's housing office, and the Al Haram Al Madani Maintenance company. Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Muhammad Al-Misfer explained that this initiative is one of a set of research and manufacturing initiatives launched by the College of Engineering to mitigate the spread of COVID-19; it comes within the university belief in facing challenges that society goes through and finding solutions to overcome them. Dean Al-Misfer pointed out that the idea of ​​this initiative came to take advantage of the technology of 3D printers and find appropriate solutions, meeting the PPE needs of the public writ large. Dean Al-Misfer raised his thanks to Asir Gov. Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz for his tutelage, His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy for his support, the faculty production team, and the students for their hard and fruitful work.

Creativity and Innovation Competition Sparks Interest

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center  Represented by the Center of Talent, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, King Khalid University continues to receive entries for "The Best Innovative Solution to the COVID-19 Pandemic", which is part of the "Mobaderoon" initiative. Talent, Creativity and Entrepreneurship Director, Dr. Mohamed bin Khammash Al-Maghrabi, explained that the competition targets those interested in innovation and aims to offer an opportunity to design ideas and innovations that offer creative solutions appropriate to the current conditions of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that the center has allocated 3 prizes for the winners of the first three places, with a value of 10,000 riyals, whereby the first-place winner will receive an amount of 5,000 riyals, the second center will be 3,000 riyals, and the third will be 2,000 riyals.

52 Thousand Beneficiaries Within the University Mobaderoon Initiative

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center  King Khalid University continues its programs within the "Mobaderoon" initiative, which was launched at the beginning of Ramadan and will continue throughout the summer vacation. The programs include many activities and various programs for the university's employees and their children, students, and society. His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, highlighted that the university is committed to being a center of research and innovation that supports regional development, noting that King Khalid University will provide unique opportunities for individual development and equality of opportunity during the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that the programs are presented online by qualified professors, experts and trainers from inside and outside the university, thanking all contributors for the program's implementation. Dr. Nasser Mansour Tayran, consultant of the University Rector, explained that the project presented 23 programs over 184 hours with 25,099 beneficiaries. Of note, Mobaderoon has served more than 52,0000 beneficiaries since its launch with 27,236 in Ramadan and 25,099 in Shawwal.

University Continues to Offer Online Medical Consultations

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center His Royal Highness, Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of the Asir Region, recently launched the Neshama Asir Initiative in cooperation with the College of Medicine and the Medical City. The initiative aims to provide online medical consultations in a number of specialties with specialized medical counselors. We are pleased to announce that this community-based medical initiative is on-going.   Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Suliman Al-Humayed, explained that this initiative, under the supervision of His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy, provides an open channel for patients to have an online medical consultation with doctors in various fields during the COVID-19 pandemic. He pointed out that more than 280 appointments have been booked with consultants from the College of Medicine and Medical City since the launch last Ramadan. "This initiative aims to facilitate communication between the patients and faculty member consultant physicians at the College of Medicine and the Medical City to counsel, advise and help them," said Dean Al-Humayed. GSM Starts Educational Culture Season

Source: King Khalid University - Media Center   On the 24th of Shawwal, and under the patronage of His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy, the Saudi Scientific Association for Teachers (GSM) launched, within the Mobaderoon initative, the educational cultural season for 1441 AH. The season will start with a meeting on how to raise outstanding young men and women, which will be delivered by Dr. Khoudran Alshemi, a faculty member in the Education College, and directed by Dr. Mohammad Zaidan, Vice Head of the Association Management Council. The season will continue the association's plan and tasks online and aims to productively invest the members' times and society during the precautionary procedures of COVID-19 and summer vacation, promoting talents interested in plastic art and digital design, in addition to raising the community awareness of their role against the global pandemic.
