Students Affairs Celebrates the International Day of Disabilities

Source: King Khalid University, Media Center The Center for people with Disabilities at the Deanship of Students Affairs, organized a seminar to mark the International Day of Disabilities entitled ''The Challenges that Face Disabled People in Light of the Corona Pandemic and the Most Prominent Solutions''. The seminar presented several topics, which included:''University Students with Disabilities and Online learning ''which was presented by Dr. Sireen Bakri, while Dr. Abu al-Ghaith, delivered a speech about the ''Challenges Facing Individuals with Mental Disabilities and their Families During the Corona Pandemic” Followed by the supervisor of the Department of Special Education Dr. Basma Al- Shahrani, who discussed “The impact of the Corona Pandemic on the Education of People with Disabilities”. Finally, the Supervisor of the Center of People with Disabilities at the Student Affairs Agency Dr. Amer Ali Jafar, concluded the seminar by talking about” The Services Offered to People on the Spectrum, During the Corona Pandemic” It is worth noting that the number of attendees reached an estimate of 150 persons . On the same note, the Center of People with Disabilities in cooperation with the Zamzam association, held a number of activities for children with disabilities at Al- Rashid Mall, in the presence of the organizing committee, the supervisor of the center, Dr. Amer Jaafar, and a number of volunteers, in addition to an educational booth which displayed the services provided by the university for students with disabilities .

Community Service Unit Held a Meeting in Tuhamat Qahtan.

Source: KKU - Media Center King Khalid University, represented by, Community Service Unit in Tuhamat Qahtan, organized a meeting entitled "The Nature and Impact of Establishing Community Peace in Tuhamat Qahtan."  in cooperation with the General Directorate of Education in Sarat Abidah, on Monday, the 7th of December. The meeting was patronized by Sarat Abidah Mayor Mohammed bin Jazwa, and was attended by a number of representatives, heads of centers, and heads of government agencies at Tuhamat Qahtan. Three topics were covered during the meeting, including a brief overview about the nature of the Committee, represented by Prof. Abdulaziz bin Saeed Al-Hajri, the General Secretary of Establishing Community Peace Committee at the emirate of Aseer province. On his part, Head of Jurisprudence Principles, Dr. Mohammad bin Motab Al-Kardum, talked about the legitimate purposes of establishing community peace, while Prof. Abdullah Al Cassi, discussed the educational behaviors related to the topic. The meeting was concluded by honoring all the participants and attendees, memorial pictures were also taken on this occasion. On his part, The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science in Sarat Abidah, Prof. Mohammad bin Metab Kurdim, thanked His Royal Highness the governer of Aseer region, Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, for his efforts in establishing community peace, he also thanked His Excellency King Khalid University President, Prof, Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al Solami, for his support. It's worth noting, that His Excellency the University President, issued recently a decision to establish a Community Service Unit in Tuhamat Qahtan, which is affiliated with the Collage of Science and Arts in Sarat Abeida. The decision is a response to the region’s Council recommendation to establish cultural centers to invest the energies of young people in the area, it's also part of KKU's contribution towards serving the community.

University Fifth Council Meeting

Source: KKU - Media Center On behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad Al-Sheikh, His Excellency King Khalid University President, Prof. Faleh bin Raja Allah Al Solami, chaired the fifth university council, on Thursday, 10th of December, which was held virtually in the presence of the His Excellency the Secretary General of the Council of Universities Affairs, Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Saleh and the council members. The University Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Vice President of Post Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Saad bin Muhammad bin Dajam, explained that the council discussed a variety of topics, and approved the following: -Restructuring the editorial board for a number of university journals. -Promotion of university employees. -Approving the following 5 fee-paid post graduate programs: Master of Pharmacy Business Administration.  Master of Pharmacy in Cosmetic Science. Master of Science in Herbal Medicine. High education qualification diploma in The Science of Diction.  Diploma in Internal Audit.

12 Thousand Virtual Lectures During the 14th Academic Week

Source: King Khalid University, Media Center The E-learning Deanship at King Khalid University, continues to provide its electronic services, according to the deanship’s statistics the semester ’s fourteen week showed  the recording of 4317 virtual  sessions and 12264 virtual lectures. On his part  the  Dean of E-Learning at the University, Dr. Naif Jabali, explained that the Deanship held two virtual symposiums, of which the number of beneficiaries reached 505, in addition to providing two training courses that benefited 162 persons. It is worth noting, that  during the fourteen  week the deanship also provided technical support services represented in 208  phone calls , 239 through WhatsApp, 42 through the deanship’s office, 218 Zoom and Live Chat , 16 e-mails, which can be calculated as 71%  faculty member support and 29%  student  support.

The Translation of 400 Wikipedia Articles to Arabic

Source: KKU-Media Center A number of Female students from English Language Department in the College of Arts and Sciences in Ahad Rafidah, translated 400 articles into the Arabic language, as part of their participation in ''Wiki documentation initiative,  in cooperation with King Abdulaziz Darah  foundation ,at the center of Saudi Digital History.        The initiative comes as contribution to  increase the number of Arabic content, which unfortunately doesn't exceed 13% in comparison to l other languages in the encyclopedia. The College Dean, Dr. Huda Masoud Al-Qahtani, explained  that this initiative was carried out with the participation of English Language Department's students, and supervised  by the Department  faculty members.  Al -Qahtani, thanked  King Abdulaziz Darah  foundation for the cooperation and efforts  and for their support in holding a  virtual workshop which included the methods to publishing translated  articles on the Wikipedia. The head of the Department of English language at the Arts and Sciences College in Ahad Rafidah, Ms. Samar Al-Nimr, explained that the articles were published after the approval of the editors of Wikipedia, pointing that the students were trained to work as coordinators for the initiative, they were also trained  to use translation  tools in Wikipedia.   She stressed that the  department aspire to continue  its cooperation with king Abdulaziz Darah Foundation in the field of translation, in addition, to developing the invitation in the next stages. It is noteworthy,  that the participants were 356 persons, and the initiation aims to enhance the Arabic content  and its availability to the world, in addition to elevating the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the creating Arabic content.

The concept of intellectual capital and the challenges of measurement

The Cooperation Club at the Community College for Girls in Abha, in cooperation with the Deanship of Female Students Affairs held a training course for female students. Entitled “Intellectual Capital: Its Concept and Challenges of Measurement”. The course addressed the following themes: - Intellectual capital - Its concept -Its importance - Ways of development -Its Rate -Measured challenges The course concluded with tips and lessons in the presence of 30 students from various majors

Social Care Center visit in International Day of Older Persons

In cooperation with the Deanship of Students' Affairs, the Cooperation Club visited the Social care center in the International Day of Older Persons on Tuesday, 8/3/1441. The visit has begun with: - Greetings and introducing the students to the employees of the house. - Then asking the inmates to mention funny stories from their lives - Popular Proverbs competitions. - Preforming the southern dance - Giving souvenirs to the employees and inmates of the house In the presence of 11 students and 3 female employees in the faculty
