STEM JAM: Electronic Game Development Event

The King Khalid University Information Technology Administration has planned the launch of the STEM JAM activity in collaboration with the Asir Scientific Center. STEM Jam is designed for those interested in electronic game development and the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) scientific methodologies used. STEM JAM will begin on November 7, 2019, and end on November 9, 2019, with a 20-hour competition project.

 

The activity will have a focus that includes but is not limited to:

  • Simplifying science according to STEM methodology, which is concerned with simplifying the solution of mathematical problems and understanding scientific laws;
  • Developing innovation and creative thinking by using VR or AR;
  • Problem-solving and employing 21-century skills, such as engineering design in mathematics, explaining programming languages and linking arts to science;
  • Raising awareness of STEM methodology and employing electronic games in spreading STEM culture.

Source: King Khalid University – Media Centre Two high diplomas at King Khalid University received a classification and accreditation from the Ministry of Civil Service, within a group of higher diploma programs approved by the University Council and was submitted for accreditation. The dean of postgraduate studies at the university, Dr. Ahmed bin Yahya Al-Faie, said that the ministry recently adopted two high diploma programs, they are the Diploma of Law at the College of Business and the Diploma in the Prevention of Drug and Psychotropic Substances at the College of Education. . He also stressed the importance of adopting and categorizing such programs because of their scientific and professional needs, in addition to their contribution in developing and achieving the vision of Saudi Arabia 2030, praising the role of the faculties of the university to develop frameworks and plans a number of diplomas and master’s and doctoral programs that constitute a qualitative addition to the university. The Deanship is working on the classification of a number of programs that touch the needs of society and the labour market, which have already been approved by the University Council, the most prominent of which are the Higher Diploma in Safety Engineering and Fire Protection at the Faculty of Engineering, and the Higher Diploma in Cyber Security at the Faculty of Computer Science.
Source: King Khalid University - Media Center His Excellency King Khalid University President, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Raja Allah Al-Salami witnessed on Wednesday the signing of a number of cooperation agreements and consulting contracts between the university and each of Motmaena association in Asir region, the green association of Asir, in addition to the Dammk sports club, at the administration building in Abha University City. These agreements and contracts come with the aim of activating the leading and societal role of the university with various institutions and parties, and creating cooperation for the benefit of the university and the parties with which the agreements were signed. As for the parts of the agreements, the Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Saad bin Abdulrahman Al-Omari represented the university in the agreement of Motmaena association, while the association was represented by its president Fahd bin Hussein Al Hadi. In the agreement with Green Asir Association the university was represnted by the Dean of the Deanship of Community Service and Continuing Education, Prof. Dr. Omar Alwan Aqeel. The association was represented by it president Eng. Khaled Alshihri The University was represented in contract of providing advisory services in the field of governance to Damac Sports Club by the Vice President for Business and Knowledge Economy, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Ibrahim Al-Hadithi, the club was represented by the Vice Chairman Mohammed bin Thabit Al-Shahrani.  
Source: King Khalid University - Media Center the president of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh Rajaa Allah Al-Salami, will sponsor the exhibition accompanying the activities of the "Prototype Development Camp" on Monday at the central stands. As part of the camp programs organized by the University Centre for Talent, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in cooperation with Monshaat. During the period from 28 Safar to the 5th of Rabe Alawal, at the headquarters of the Faculty of Science, King Abdullah Road, for men and women. The camp targets the university students and graduates, as well as residents of Asir who have entrepreneurial ideas and who want to start business in the commercial fields. The Director of the Centre for Talent, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University, Dr. Mohammed Bin Khammash Al-Maghrabi, assure that the establishment of the camp comes in line with the "Vision of the Kingdom 2030" and its objectives. which included supporting entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises. that will raise their contribution to the GDP. also to work to achieve the vision of the university in the society service . To enhance its developmental role in promoting the knowledge economy and transforming research, innovation and investment ideas into economic products. Al-Maghrabi pointed out that the camp aims to create rising companies originating from the university by providing opportunities for pioneering practical application.  As well as graduation projects commercialization. Also to create a pioneering environment that encourages knowledge exchange and provides an opportunity for university students and employees to convert their ideas and projects to raising companies. He adds that the first stage of the camp  is the personal stage, where  participants can  identify their leading personalities. In the entrepreneurial stage, where they can identify the basics of entrepreneurship and developing the prototype . The third stage includes learning the basics of effective management to help entrepreneurs in the process of establishment and growth. It is worth mentioning that the camp will include the participation of 55 entrepreneurs over a period of 6 weeks, two days each week. The participant will be able to have both scientific and field knowledge. The participants can see how community need the project throughout the week except training days, in order to ensure maturity and success. The project will also conclude its activities by providing a "Demo" in which the participants will present their projects and the winning projects will be evaluated and honoured.

It worth noting that the  meeting targets  public employees in government entities, through highlighting their roles in promoting integrity.
